Does it make a beep when u press the the push to talk button it should have a short burst beep to let u know your on a trunked radio system and nobody is on the ch and u can start talking

It's a function of how it's programmed. It doesn't have MDC1200 which is PTT ID for analogue radios (this is a digital radio). You would need to ask the radio programmer if they can make it the way you need. Most buyers of these are not using trunked networks but just conventional radio to radio in digital mode.
